Aikido at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre.
Ueshiba style Aikido is practiced at Bisham on Tuesday evenings with an 8.00pm start.
For the uninitiated, Aikido is a development of traditional Japanese martial arts that results in a flowing and non combative approach to dealing with an aggressor.
As it's name implies (Ai Ki Do is basically translated as The Way of Spirit and Harmony) the practitioner learns how to move and blend with an attacking force and ultimately control it without the use of physical strength.
Over the years students move from basic learning to effective practice then finally to an awareness of themselves and the Art of Aikido as a means of personal development.
The club is part of the respected United Kingdom Aikikai (UKA) which is recognised by Hombu dojo in Japan which means students' gradings are internationally valid.
The instructor at Bisham is David Hill, who is ranked 2nd dan and is a Fukushidoin within the organisation.
The Bisham club is allied with Peter Brady Sensei's Myo Shin Juku house. Brady Sensei is ranked 6th dan in Aikido and 3rd dan in Iaido.
